I wanted to start this week off by doing something simple. Although I ended up staring at paper longer than I'd like to admit, this card didn't take much work at all. Anyone can use this design for any Unity stamp and it will work!

This little hippo is so darn sinkin cute! I just love it. A few months ago I got to see hippos at the aquarium in NJ. They were full of energy and personality. Who knew that they are the deadliest animal on the planet? You definitely can't tell that from this card. Lol.

The paper does a lot of the work here. Never in a million hippo years would I have thought I'd grab unicorn/mermaid Recollections paper for this. I saw those pinkish plant things sprouting from the bottom of the paper and it reminded me of the Nile. I just had to use it! The border paper is actually silver mermaid scales. 

"Hippo Birthday," is clipped on top of a messy bed of washi and eyelash trim.

The bluish-purple paper gives this happy hippo a watery reflective look...I think. The sequins add a bubbly glub-glub.

I know exactly who is going to get this hippo card for their birthday (a Uni sister). I hope they like it.

Creating a life that you love is the key to happiness. Loving your life means that you are full of gratitude. Living a life in awe at God's creations creates peace and a happy heart. Every day look around you, look closely at what has been created for His glory; for you as a gift. There is no other more creative than our Lord God. 

The Artist took the brush and just like that.... In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of 

the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and here was light. 4 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Gen 1: 1-4

Just like we take an empty canvas or blank paper and turn it into something incredible... so did God; He just did it on a much larger scale. When we see beauty in things we see  the artwork of our creator. Everything we create is a reflection of His creations. How cool is it, that He gave us the ability to be creative like that; to mirror Him?!! Pretty awesome!

One more thing to think about... take a look in the mirror or put your cell camera on selfie mode. I want you to think for a moment about how the same God who made the stars, the same God who made the heavens....made you....in His image. You are fearfully and wonderfully made! You were created and you are loved! Create a life that you love by seeing and soaking in His creations with gratitude.

Ever have a card just throw a fit? This card must have been wanting to stay in 2018 or something because it was kicking and screaming like a toddler that didn't want to get dressed.

It didn't want to be a shaker card. No matter how hard I tried, every time the "2019" numbers went through the Big Shot they came out slightly off. (hid that boo boo with a sentiment)

The foam adhesive somehow made it down before the window sheet (no glass in the window ahhhh!) causing me to improvise and painstakingly draw and cut out the exact measurements of my wonky foam work to fit inside of the windows. Sounds crazy and it was crazy; but I had to save it. At last the window sheets were in place with some adhesive. Felt like I just barely won a boxing match after that.

Then those windows rejected the carefully poured out beautiful gleaming sequins and glitter by rambunctiously jumping out of their wonky made playpens and onto everything else.  At this point it needed a time out. So I took a break and watched a movie.

Time to attach these naughty shaker windows and sequins to the card base. Again... It fought me. It didn't want to line up with the base correctly. Dang it! Had to trim the base and force a fit.

And just as if this toddler of a card had never acted up at all, the Angie girl grew up and blew her magical New Year dust making it all pretty.

She seemed so innocent now that I made a second card...well not a card, a tag. This time, she was well behaved and I even let her stay up until midnight!

I can't believe it's been a year already! Thank you so much for being such a support to our Friends of Unity Blog group. We love and appreciate each and every comment so much; they just warm my heart!

That love, warmth and wintery goodness is what I  wanted to convey through this card. I pressed several different shades of ink (navy blue to green) onto a stamping block and spritzed with water. I then took a piece of regular paper and smooched it on top of the block. The surprise of what it turns out to look like is the fun of experimenting with this technique.

Unity's Mittens, Cocoa and Hearts are stamped in black and colored with alcohol markers in cool shades of green and blue. The colors are a contrast to the warmth the mug and gloves offer.

The heart needed some attention as a heart often does so I added some fine snow glitter. It has a slight marshmallowey feel.

The background flakes are from the October KOTM in Navy ink on Recollections kraft paper

I hope this card makes your heart feel all warm and that you know how much you fellow Uni addicts are appreciated.

I was drawn to the gold moose in this picture. I wasn't feeling much like making a card so I created an ornament instead.

I used Unity's Northwood Peace stamp set.

The round disks, I found at Michaels craft store in the wedding section. They were already primed and ready to go.

Pear Pizzazz and Tranquil Tide were the perfect colors of ink for the background. However...the  trees vaguely showed up on top of the woodgrain. They turned out to look more like long sticks of green shooting up like shadows behind Mr. Moose. I just went with it.

Gold embossing made Mr. Moose classy and ready to decorate the tree.

Lastly I added some fine snow glitter under the shadowy trees.

This was a seriously fun card to make; simple too! 

Used SU paper, a deer head die from Recollections and some walmart sequins.

I didn't have any pompoms so I used a tassel instead.

Somehow this buck got his antlers tangled in some SU silver thread. Looks good on him don't ya think?

This month we are focusing on 'strength.'

This strong, snarky lady is full of confidence and sass. She is from the Unity October SMAK kit. With hand on hip, stylish clothing and hat, and with a matter-of-fact expression on her face she just radiates with her attitude of boldness and courage.

"ACTUALLY I can" from the Aug 2016 SMAK kit says it all. Just in case you didn't know.....actually she can!

Nicole Love vintage wallpaper added a pop of color and to the style. Vanilla paper distressed with Tim Holtz vintage photo ink borders some REAL sewing. A big deal for me since I hate getting out the machine. Ha!

Some more Nicole paper is layered under a torn up piece of old dictionary sent to me from one of my ATC swap buddies. Lots of TH distress going on here. I wanted the green wallpaper layer to peek out from behind the dictionary piece.

This sassy strong lady is embossed right on top of all these worn out layers.

The sentiment is embossed in black too. Tearing it out seemed appropriate.
