Growing In Unity Day#3
Look Up & Get Lost!
July 2018 SMAK KIT
Stars have always amazed me since I was a little kid. There is awe in gazing at something so much more grand than we can truly comprehend. I am always one to go outside at 2 am in -2 degree temps just to see a moon eclipse. The universe, I mean this SMAK kit, was calling my name.
This phases of the moon Unity Stamp is so cool. Recollections white embossing powder on top of Canson watercolor paper was perfect for adding of different Jane Davenport watercolors to create a galaxy. The embossing 1st made water-coloring easy.
I washed over the paper with water first then with the pink, then blue which created a little bit of purple. The color 'Ink' blended out into Raven. The color Unicorn (white) splashed all over added a look of distant stars. I added layers of color until I was happy with it.
If you haven't tried water-coloring yet, please give it a try. Water-coloring is so forgiving when creating backgrounds like this. Watercolors are also worth the investment; a little lasts forever.
Leave a comment telling me if you have ever water-colored and if so what you love about it. You can also show my card some love and leave a nice comment. You will be entered to win 1 of 2 Unity grab bag prizes.
Wow!! Love your watercolored galaxy background, Jeanie! I have been wanting to try this with watercolor... thanks for the beautiful inspiration!
ReplyDeletewow--this is so cool with the embossed moons and the watercolored galaxy background. I have played with watercolors a little bit--need more practice.
ReplyDeleteStunning piece❤️
ReplyDeleteI love that galaxy background! I have played around with distress blending trying to achieve the look, but it never turns out. Thank you for suggesting the water colors, that may be what I need to try.
ReplyDeleteI watercolor a little with distress inks but nothing major. I really like your moon card!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! THAT IS AMAZING JEANIE!!! No surprise, you always come up with the COOLEST cards!!! ♥️
ReplyDeleteI love the vibrant colors of the Jane Davenport inks. I "watercolor" my cards all the time, and I'm finally figuring out what I'm doing. I have not tried a galaxy background, however, and I will do so soon, for I'm impressed by your gorgeous card.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I love background and the white images are stunning. I love to watercolor. I am still learning but really enjoy the freedom of not having to be right within the lines!
ReplyDeleteJust stunning! I love the magic you get with water coloring. You never really know how it's going to turn out. I love this stamp set, your colors and design. It's just amazing! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAmazing card Jeanie! Love your galaxy sky and phases of the moon!!! “The heavens declare His handiwork” 😊
ReplyDeleteWhat timing for this card! I pulled out this kit yesterday to play with the moon phases. Your design is stunning! I love it! I’ve watercolored quite a bit I love the soft but vibrant effect. I do need to learn patience with it though.
ReplyDeleteI have never watercolored! I’m still trying to master pencil! This is breathtaking, simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous card! I've done the galaxy backgrounds by blending distress oxides, but never with watercolors. I'm going to try it!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is stunning!! Love watercoloring!! It is a great way to color up something and relaxing!! So much different then pencils or copics ( although I love those too!!)
ReplyDeleteThank you I’m getting together with my crafty Sister and we are working on watercolor techniques on Friday this card is right on time and gorgeous 😘💜
ReplyDeleteLove your galaxy background. 💜 The moon phases go perfectly with it. I love using watercolors. Love the movement of them. Thank you for the beautiful inspiration.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. The sky is a perfect night sky.
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis. Is. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteFantastic result! I have not tried this before
ReplyDeleteTotally loving this. Always been a huge stargazer since I was a little girl. Even grew. Beautiful work today up to be a NASA engineer
ReplyDeleteI just love your week ! Another beautiful card- the technique and colors are fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteI have watercolored before- I am not too great at it, but try it on occasion! I took classes when my mother lived with me- she was an artist. I learned to make charts with the watercolors so I can tell what colors mixed with other colors 'turn' into, and what makes mud : ) Shading is what messes me up!
I have not tried embossing on water color paper...good idea...the.moon.scene is.great!!! Thx!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!! I pive how vibrant the pink stayed too
ReplyDeleteWhoa! So cool! I tried watercoloring a couple times. Need to keep practicing!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous! I definitely need to play around with this set & watercolors both!!
ReplyDeleteI'm just over the moon in love with your card Jeanie! So creative!

ReplyDeleteYour galaxy BG is fabulous. Very cool card!!
ReplyDeleteLove this! I don't think I've ever seen this stamp set in action! Love water coloring and how not-fussy it can be!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried watercolor ingredients yet. I got supplies for it so soon I hope to get to it.
ReplyDeleteYour card is stunning. I am not good at all with water color only my pencils. I do not work well with markers, I just love my watercolor pencils.
ReplyDeleteThis is so vibrant! I would not have guessed this was watercolor. Another great card I’m gonna have to attempt this TODAY!
ReplyDeleteThat's a stunning card!!! I use water coloring often, sometimes directly to a stamp and then a black outline of the main theme... Or over a heat-embossed image.
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeleteI stand amazed at your ability to create a fabulous night sky. Thanks for explaining the watercolor process to me. I really loved the card when I first saw it, and I am finally getting around to commenting here. It is a winner. So gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteVery unique! I enjoy the variety of cards you make.
ReplyDeleteAwesome colors! I have watercolored and love it!
